STRUGGLES FOR FREEDOM - An Historical Look at Haiti-U.S. Relationships HAITIANS IN AMERICA - Dynamics of an Evolving Community SPECIAL FEATURES
In 1804 Haiti became the second independent country in the Western Hemisphere, after the United States. In 2004 Haiti will mark the bicentennial of its independence.

Haiti and the United States are neighbors. Over the past 200 years they have been linked by their geographical proximity and by interactions between their leaders and people.

Most Americans know little about interactions between Haiti and the U.S., or of the positive contributions to the U.S. made by Haiti and by Haitians. This website aims to contribute toward increased awareness about this. Perhaps some who explore it will be encouraged to dig deeper.
